A four year study of over 300 fracing technical papers, patents and meetings with industry frac experts has shown that:

  1. Refracing is expensive, troublesome and often not very effective leading to the saying “Pump and Pray”
  2. The rapid decline is due to frac plugging near the wellbore not drainage from natural fractures
  3. The drain hole stimulation system will eliminate the near wellbore plugging problem by drilling small drainholes that
    • Bypass the plugged zones
    • Intersect part or all of the hydraulic fractures in the well
    • Provide large flow paths from the fracs to the horizontal well

The current status of this system is:

  1. The system utilizes the same proven directional drilling technology used to drill the horizontal wells
  2. No new equipment or tools have to be developed
  3. There are hundreds of stacked rigs that could be used to drill the drain holes
  4. There is 100 percent probability that the drainholes can be drilled
  5. THE ONLY UNKNOWN IS HOW MUCH WILL THE DRAIN HOLES STIMULATE THE WELLS

  1. MAURER ENGINEERING will provide concept ideas, engineering and patents
  2. SIGNA ENGINEERING will provide consulting on well designs, engineering, and field personnel
  3. MICROSEISMIC will assist with instrumentation and well selection

Field test needed

  1. The drain hole system is ready for field testing and full scale field implementation
  2. FOUR TO EIGHT TEST WELLS ARE NEEDED TO PROVE OR DISPROVE THIS TECHNOLOGY.

Incentive for operators

If the system works as well as expected it will

  • Revolutionize shale industry like horizontal drilling did in the 1990s
  • Double the value of all shale wells because
    • High reliable due to simplicity and proven drilling technology
    • Reduce costs by 50 percent or more
    • Increase production more than refracing
    • Allow wells to produce at maximum rate
  • Allow Operators to buy existing wells at bargain prices, apply drain holes to them and resell them at much higher prices (like horizontal drilling did)
